Average cannabis price per gram in Massachusetts, August 2026

Price benchmarkMassachusettsUpdated Sep 16, 2026

Adult-use cannabis in Massachusetts sold for an average of $3.81 per gram at retail in August 2026, according to the Cannabis Control Commission. That is two cents below July, 32 cents or 7.7% below August 2025, and 73% below the $14.17 the series opened at in November 2018.

The figure is the Commission's "Average Monthly Price per Ounce for Adult-Use Cannabis" series, which despite its name is published in dollars per gram. The Commission describes its open data as self-reported by licensees. It does not say whether the average covers flower only or every product sold by weight, so read it as the statewide price of a gram at retail rather than of a gram of flower specifically.

How to read value, mid and premium

Price tiers describe where a product sits on one store's menu at one package size. Value is the low end of that store's range, premium the high end, and mid everything between. A tier is a position, not a quality grade, so the same product can be value at one store and mid at another. A statewide average per gram sits across all of them and says nothing about any one shelf.
