Discounts: who may give which
BudLogix does not read a discount's name to decide whether it matters. It reads how Dutchie applies it, who may receive it, and which discounts are in the Employee discount rule on Discount rules.
The buckets
Each discounted line lands in one bucket, from Dutchie's application method:
- Promotions - Dutchie applied it automatically. A campaign, not a decision.
- Codes - a code the customer presented.
- Loyalty points - a points redemption. The customer paid for it in visits.
- Staff discount - a discount in the Employee discount rule, or an automatic one restricted to that rule's groups. Applied by hand, but it is the store's own policy.
- Applied by hand - somebody chose to apply it at the register. This is the discretionary bucket and the one loss prevention looks at.
- Unrecognised - no discount record explains the line.
Most of Applied by hand is not loss. Stores run campaigns through the manual button. Manager's Discount is the manual comp bucket. Until an Org Admin changes the rules it sits in a rule of its own, Manager's comp, whose check The only customer to get it on a product asks whether a comp on a product only ever went to one person.
The staff rate
The staff rate is never typed. Each discount in the Employee discount rule on Discount rules allows its own percent-off, read from Dutchie. Beyond policy is the discount past that rate on a staff-discount line, or the whole discount when an employee's purchase carried some other discount. It is measured on the applied discount alone; a loyalty companion stacked on top is not exposure.
Who is allowed each discount
Every manual and code discount is in a rule on Discount rules: the one an Org Admin put it in, or Everything else. Each discount says who may receive it:
- A group - filled in from Dutchie when Dutchie restricts the discount. With Given to someone outside its customers on, a sale to anyone outside the group is a finding.
- Anyone - there is no one outside, so the checks are about how often and to whom: the same customer at 90%+ off repeatedly, the only customer on a product, or every use.
Group membership comes from each customer's record in Dutchie. A group with no members cannot be satisfied by anyone.
Who approved it
Dutchie records who completed the sale. It never records who approved a discount. Manager status comes from Dutchie employee permission groups and is shown as a badge, so the person holding the manager PIN does not read as the leak.
Where you see this
- Discounts - the buckets and the named discounts inside each.
- Exceptions - the rules that use the staff rate.
- Staff purchases - beyond-policy dollars per employee.
- Discount rules - which discounts are staff discounts, who each one is for, and which checks apply.
