Promotions, creatives and placements
Marketing in BudLogix is built on three things that are easy to confuse: the promotion, the creative made for it, and the placement that puts the creative somewhere customers see it.
The promotion is the Dutchie discount
A promotion is a discount that exists in Dutchie, your point of sale. BudLogix reads discounts from Dutchie, either every hour when Sync every hour is on in Marketing settings or when someone presses Sync Dutchie on Promotions. Nothing is ever written back: the name, reward, dates and products are changed in Dutchie and re-synced. That is why a promotion "live in POS" is a fact about the register, not about any screen.
Because the discount is the promotion, its facts are authoritative. The offer line on a sign ("25% OFF", "2 FOR $30", "FREE WITH PURCHASE") is composed from the reward Dutchie configured, not from the name someone typed, and not by an AI model. If the name says 40% and the reward is set to 50%, the sign says 50%, and the editor tells you to fix the name in Dutchie. A giveaway priced at a penny is only called "FREE" when Dutchie reported that nothing else must be bought; if it reported a condition the sign says "FREE WITH PURCHASE"; if it reported nothing, no offer line is composed and you are asked to state the condition yourself.
The creative is the artwork
A creative is one design rendered into several formats: Signage 1920x1080, Hero 1920x640, Social 1080x1080 and Promo tile 765x330. Its content type says what it is for. An Offer creative carries one promotion; a Multi promo carries several from one brand; an Announcement and a Store notice carry none, and a Store notice renders signage only.
The AI in Studio writes the hook and the push and draws decoration such as a product cutout. Copy is rendered from real values, and a price is never model-written.
A creative's end date is not typed; it is the attached promotion's end date in Dutchie.
The placement is where it runs
A placement is a creative published to one surface: Sales floor screens, Storefront hero, Social export (a download, not a placement anything can take down), or Text message (a text campaign sent from Studio; a sent text cannot be taken back either, so a later edit shows as "Sent before your last edit" rather than offering an update). Publishing renders the format that surface needs if it is missing or stale. A placement carries the promotion's end date, and an hourly sweep takes it down that day after re-reading the date from Dutchie, so an extended promotion stays up and a shortened one comes down.
Published is not the same as current. If you edit a creative after publishing, the surface still shows the old picture until you press Update.
Where you see this
- Promotions: the promotions, with their creatives and the Placed chips.
- Studio and the Creative editor: the creatives and the Publish to rows.
- The Wall and Storefront hero: the surfaces themselves.
