Compare promotions with competitors
What this is for
The Compare tab on Pricing > Competitors puts your deals beside every competitor's: how much of each menu is on deal, which brands you stock are on deal at a competitor while full price here, how deep each side's deals go, and which days they run. The sections run in that order, the ones you act on first. Owners and pricing managers use it before planning a promotion. Nothing on this tab changes a price or a Dutchie discount.
Where the data comes from
- Theirs: each competitor's latest complete menu fetch and the specials list read with it, the same shelves the Specials tab shows.
- Yours: Dutchie sales. A deal of yours counts when it is an automatic Dutchie discount anyone can get (not a staff discount, a customer-group perk, a first-visit perk or a discount applied by hand at the register), it carried a sale in the last 7 days of sales, and it has no end date already past. The screen says which day your sales run to.
Dutchie must be connected and at least one competitor fetched.
Who can see it
Anyone with the View competitors permission. The Pricing module must be included in your plan.
What runs by itself
Nothing runs from this tab. It reads the latest fetches and sales each time it opens. The response section reads a weekly measurement; see Do competitors' deals cost us sales.
Settings it depends on
Competitor collection settings decide when menus are fetched.
Fields and figures
- Share of the menu on deal - yours: stocked products that sold on a deal in the last week of sales. Theirs: listed items a deal links today. Each bar shows the share and the counts behind it. A deal that links more than 40% of a store's items across three or more sizes is store-wide (one competitor's munchies bundle links every item) and is named under the bars, not counted. Weekday deals link their items only on their days, so a store with Friday deals reads lower midweek.
- On deal there, full price here - brands you stock, in the same size, on deal at a competitor today, while none of yours in that brand and size sold on a deal. Biggest sellers first. Shows their deal, their list price and the price after it, your full price and what you sold in the last 4 weeks. Under their price: the THC range of their items on deal, the lowest price per gram of THC after the deal, and how many of them sit in a THC band yours do. Under yours: your THC range and lowest price per gram of THC. "No THC listed" where nothing states one. Plan a promotion opens Plan a promotion on that brand.
- How deep, by size - the sizes you sell most that a competitor also lists. Each mark is how much a deal takes off the list price, as a share of it, for the middle item of that size on a deal: line up the store's items on a deal from smallest to largest saving and take the one in the middle. Items with no deal are not counted; how many are on one is the "on deal" figure. A filled dot is you, a ring with two letters each store. A dashed square at 0% means you have no deal in that size, or one with no stated depth. "Full price here" marks a size a competitor has on deal and you do not. Hover a mark, or focus the chart and use the arrow keys, for its figures.
- By THC band - under a flower, pre-roll or vape size, opens that size's THC bands. Each band is a row: your dot against each store's ring, marked with its initials as on the size row, at the median depth of that store's items on deal in that band. A store with a deal that states no figure is named under the band instead of ringed. The line under the band says how many of theirs (every store together) and yours are on deal, and the price per gram of THC after the deal. Hover a ring for that store's own figures. After the deal is the special price when the menu states one, else the list price less the deal's own figure; an item not on deal counts at its list price. A deal with no stated figure counts as on deal and is left out of the depth and the price after it. Items that list no THC sit in no band and are counted under the bands. Bands and price per gram of THC are read as in Competitor prices.
- Depth - worked out from the deal's own words against the item's list price: "4 for $60" on a $25 eighth is 40% off; "Buy 2 Get 30%" is 10% across three items. Jane states a sale price on single-item deals, which is used instead. A name with no figure ("VAULT") has no depth.
- This week and next - Monday of this week to Sunday next, one block per store with you first. Each line is a group of deals on the same schedule: "Every day", the days it runs ("Fri, Sat"), and "until" a date when it ends inside the fortnight. Tags under the line name the kinds of deal on it (Bundle, Buy X get Y, % off, Sale price, Other, read from the name for both sides), most common first, counted over every deal on the line. Hover a line for how many of each kind, the families, and its deals.
- Do their deals cost us sales? - one line with the weekly measurement's state and a link to how it is measured, until a competitor and family passes its back-test; then a table of what each one does to your gross profit.
