Competitor specials

The Specials tab on Pricing > Competitors lists every special each competitor's menu is running: bundles, multi-buys, percentage deals, sale prices and weekday deals. Owners and pricing managers use it to see what the shops next door are offering today, and which of those deals touch a brand and format you stock. It is a reading of the market: nothing on this tab changes a price.

How to read it

Four figures sit at the top:

  • Running now - specials listed at each store's latest complete fetch.
  • Touch your shelf - specials that cover at least one item of a brand and format you have in stock. Clicking it shows only those.
  • On set days only - specials that run on some days of the week only, such as a Monday or Friday-Saturday deal.
  • Single-item price cuts - competitor items listed below their list price on fresh shelves. These are the only specials the pricing engine reads, and only beside the list price. See Competitor prices.

Under them, one row of chips picks a store, and a second picks a kind - Bundle, % off, Sale price, Buy X get Y or Other - with Touches your shelf and Running today beside them. The choice stays in the page address, so a refresh or a shared link keeps it.

Each store is a card, the stores with the most specials touching your shelf first. A card shows five specials and Show all for the rest. A store whose latest fetch is older than the freshness window (7 days by default) says when it was fetched and that its specials may have ended; someone with the Manage competitors permission gets Fetch now there, the same fetch as the Stores tab's row menu. A store whose specials list could not be read at the latest fetch says so, rather than showing none.

Items under a special opens the first five items it covers, at their list price, with a single-item cut shown beside the struck-through list price. On a Dutchie store each item says whether it qualifies (buying it counts toward the deal), is discounted (the deal's discount lands on it), or both.

A deal's name and its items can disagree, and the row shows it rather than hiding it. On 2026-10-07 one competitor's "Buy 2 Ounces Get 30%" listed 99 items: none as qualifying, all 99 as discounted, and they were quarters, halves and ounces. That is how the store set the deal up in Dutchie, not a reading error.

Where the data comes from

Each competitor fetch reads the store's specials list beside its menu: Dutchie's specials list for Dutchie stores and Jane's for Jane stores, the same lists their online menus show. Expired and disabled specials in those lists are left out. The items under a special are the menu items the platform says the special applies to, on the same fetch.

Dutchie attaches a weekday special to its items only on the days it runs, so on other days the row says "Items are listed only on the days it runs". A special that names no items at all, such as an order-level deal, says it applies at the register.

The kind is read from the special's name: neither platform states it. When a store lists the same special more than once on the same days, it shows once, with "listed N times".

Who can see it

Anyone with the View competitors permission, as for the rest of the Competitor feed. The Pricing module must be included in your plan.

What runs by itself

The specials list is read on every competitor fetch, on the collection schedule or when a fetch is started by hand. A special keeps the date it was first seen and the last fetch that listed it; one a store stops running drops off this tab and its history is kept.

Settings it depends on

Competitor collection settings decide when stores are fetched. The freshness window decides when a store's specials are marked as possibly ended.

Fields and figures

  • Kind - Bundle, % off, Sale price, Buy X get Y or Other, read from the special's name.
  • Days - "Every day", a single day ("Mondays") or the days it runs ("Every Fri, Sat").
  • Dates - the dates the competitor set: "Since" a start, "Until" an end, a range, or "Ongoing" when neither is set.
  • First seen - the first fetch that listed the special.
  • Listed N times - the store lists this special more than once.
  • Medical only, No loyalty points - restrictions the competitor wrote in the special's name or description.
  • N items - how many of the store's menu items the special covers, with up to three of their brands.
  • Count toward the deal / get the discount - on Dutchie stores, how many of those items qualify and how many are discounted. "All N listed as getting the discount" is common: Dutchie sets up a multi-buy such as "2 for $40" with its items on the discount side only. Jane does not say, so Jane rows leave it out.
  • Sizes - how many items of each size the special covers, smallest first; for a deal covering more than six sizes, the three most common.
  • Touches your shelf - your brands and formats that the special's items match, up to three, with how many more.
