Stock lanes and the reorder point
Stock Levels puts every product that needs a look into one of five lanes. The lanes sit on one axis, days of cover, with one end too low and the other too high. Where the lines fall is set in Stock Levels Settings, so the chip hints quote your numbers rather than fixed ones.
Days of cover
Days of cover is sellable units divided by the average units sold per day over your sales velocity window (default 30 days), counting only the days the product had stock. Only stock in active rooms is sellable; units in Quarantine or a similar room are "held off the sales floor" and do not count.
The three lines
- Reorder point = Delivery lead days + Reorder buffer (days). Defaults 5 + 3 = 8 days. Below this you are inside the time an order takes to arrive.
- Understock floor = Target days of supply, or the lead time if that is longer. Default 14 days. Below this a product is understocked at all.
- Overstock threshold (days). Default 90. Above this the stock is capital sitting still.
The five lanes
- Reorder now - still in stock, but days of cover at or below the reorder point. Sorted soonest to run out. These are the products the low inventory digest emails each morning.
- Watch - above the reorder point but below the understock floor. Covered for now; keep an eye on it.
- Stockout - nothing sellable, or down to three units or fewer with no sale in the sales velocity window, the product had an established sales history, and it sold within the stockout silence limit (default 60 days). Losing sales today. Sorted by lost sales per day: the rate it sold at before it ran out, times its price.
- Long stockout - nothing sellable and no sale for longer than the silence limit. Supply stopped rather than ran out, so the rate shown is history, not a forecast. BudLogix suggests nothing for these.
- Overstock - an established product with more days of cover than the overstock threshold, or an established product with stock that sold nothing in the sales velocity window (blank cover, note "On the shelf N days, never sold" or "nothing sold in the last 30 days"). Sorted by money at cost.
A product between the understock floor and the overstock threshold needs nothing and is not shown. A product on its way from a vendor, as a METRC transfer not yet received, is also left out of Reorder now when the transfer covers the need.
What is never in a lane
Products that are stopped, paused, under a phased-out brand, retired in Dutchie, or too new to have a sales rate. The "Not shown" line under the chips counts the first three. See Product lifecycle states.
