When the TV loses power or network
A store screen is meant to come back to content on its own. This is what the player on the TV does after a power cut or while the internet is down, and which player version it needs. The status BudLogix shows for the screen is a separate thing; see What online and offline mean.
After a power cut
The player opens by itself once the TV has started, if Starts after power loss reads On in its settings (player 1.0.2 or later). If it reads Off - Enable, the TV stays on its home screen until someone opens the player; see Turn on auto-start after a power cut.
The player usually starts a few seconds before the TV's Wi-Fi is up, so what it shows first depends on whether it has content saved.
With no network (player 1.0.3 and later)
- Content saved: it plays the last playlist it downloaded, with its slide timings, transition and display schedule, while it waits. Slides whose files are no longer on the TV are skipped.
- Nothing saved: it shows Waiting for network... and Content will start as soon as the TV is online.
- Trying again: with nothing on screen it tries after 5, 10, 20 and 30 seconds, then every minute. It also fetches about 2 seconds after the TV reports it is back online, so content usually appears within seconds of the network returning.
Before 1.0.3, a TV that started without network showed an error for up to 5 minutes and could not play what it had saved.
When the network drops while it plays
Nothing on screen changes. The player keeps playing its downloaded slides, and the display schedule keeps working on the TV's own clock. Changes made in BudLogix arrive when the network does, straight away if the push gets through, otherwise at the next fetch, which happens every 5 minutes.
Other messages
- No content available - BudLogix answered and has nothing on this screen. From 1.0.3 the TV also takes down what it was showing and forgets its saved copy, so content you took off a screen does not come back after a power cut.
- An error message over Retrying shortly... - BudLogix answered with an error. The player keeps trying by itself.
- The pairing screen - the screen was deleted in BudLogix or unpaired on the TV. The saved playlist is forgotten too, so the next pairing never shows the previous one's content.
Where you see this
- The player's Settings panel: Starts after power loss and Version.
- Troubleshoot a screen: what to do about each of these.
