How a Google review is matched
A Google review names its writer only by their Google display name. BudLogix matches it to the customer who wrote it where it can, so the review shows the sale behind it and the budtender who rang it on Reviews, and so that customer is not asked for another review too soon.
When it runs
Each new Google review is matched as it arrives with the nightly sync or Sync from Google. Match Google reviews to customers in the ... menu on Reviews tries again for every review still unmatched, and says how many it matched. A match is written straight to the review, with no step to approve it. A review linked by hand is never re-matched.
How it decides
- Tapped our link, then posted. When a customer taps the Google button in one of your asks and a Google review appears within 7 days after that tap (or up to a day before it, since the two clocks differ), the review is matched to that customer before anything else is tried. It is 100% sure when the name on the review contains the customer's first or last name as a whole word ("Marcus L." for Marcus Lee), and 85% sure when the name says nothing about who wrote it: "A Google user", initials ("M. L."), a single word or a nickname. A full name - two words of two letters or more, leaving out a nickname in brackets - with neither the customer's first nor last name in it is somebody else, and the tap is not used for that review. A tap leads to one review: when the customer's own Google review (matched to them, or unmatched under their name) was posted or edited between a day before the tap and 7 days after it, and before this one, the tap is spent on that review. If several customers tapped in that window, the nearest tap that passes these checks wins; an ask already matched to another review is not used twice.
- Name and timing. Otherwise the review is scored from 0 to 100 against every customer asked in the 60 days before it: up to 50 for how alike the names are, up to 30 for timing (full on the day of the ask, nothing after 30 days), up to 10 for a matching rating (none when the rating is unknown) and up to 10 for similar words in the customer's private review from that period. A name less than 30% alike never matches, however close the timing. The ask linked is the customer's most recent one. A review is matched at 75 or above: an exact name needs the ask within about five days, or a private review that agrees with it.
Not this customer
On a matched Google review, Not this customer in the panel takes the match off: the customer, the ask and the private review linked to it. The review is then marked so that neither the nightly match nor Match Google reviews to customers ever matches it again.
What a match changes
- The review is credited to the budtender who rang the sale behind the ask, and taking the match off (Not this customer, or a weak match cleared) takes that credit back. See How a review is credited to a budtender.
- The row shows the customer's name, and hovering it says how sure the match is.
- The panel keeps the Google author's name as its heading and shows the customer under Customer, with the sale behind the review, and the customer's own ask, texts and private review in its thread.
- The customer is not asked again until the wait after a Google review has passed (90 days unless changed on Review Management Settings), counted from the review's date.
