Comparison groups and measured figures
A comparison group is the set of people whose figures are read against each other: the floor team, inventory, management. Nobody is ever ranked across the whole shop.
Placing people
A person's comparison group follows their position. Each position on Positions says, under Compared with, which group the people in it are ranked against; change it there and everyone holding the position moves with it. The employee record and the Evaluations list show the group but do not set it.
A person with no position, or in a position whose Compared with is Not set, is unranked. So is anyone in Not compared, the group for people who should never be ranked. Owners are never compared.
Your groups
Every store starts with Sales floor, Management, Inventory and Not compared. Someone with Manage Positions renames, describes, reorders, adds and removes them from Comparison groups on Positions. See Manage comparison groups.
What is measured
The figures come from the till, not from memory. Each position says which of them its work is measured on: someone with Manage Positions chooses under Measured by BudLogix on the position's Judged on tab; see Choose what a position is measured on. Until someone does, a position in Sales floor, Management or Inventory uses that group's usual picks. A person with no position uses the picks of every group they were placed in.
- Sales volume, Average basket, Units per transaction, Discount rate, Void rate - from completed orders attributed to the person in Dutchie.
- Average shortfall - shift closings counted against receipts; only shortfalls count, an over is not a loss.
- Shifts closed and Shifts overseen - from shift closings, the second counting those signed off as the manager.
Some figures rank (a percentile inside the group; lower is better for some), others are context only ("Floor median ... context, not a ranking"). Work a person did that their groups are not measured on is shown under Also part of the job, never ranked: a team lead on the sales floor who signs off closings sees their shifts overseen, and a manager who covers the counter sees their basket. Beside it is the median of everyone else who did the same work.
What is asked
The rating criteria are separate from the group: every person is asked the criteria asked of everyone plus their position's own. A criterion still tied to a comparison group rather than a position is asked of nobody until an org admin attaches it to a position.
Frozen at open
When an evaluation is opened, the figures for that quarter and the version of each criterion are copied onto it. Reopening it never recomputes them, so the evidence behind a promotion or a dismissal is the evidence the evaluator saw. Ratings then cover only what no query can answer.
